    Free Game: Abobo's Big Adventure

I mean who doesn't love a great 8-bit game, that also functions as an homage to the gaming days of yesteryear? I know I don't.

Let's face it, I tend to write about some fairly serious topics in, at times, an overly dramatic fashion. It can get down right annoying. So here's my thanks to you, a free game that you can play on the crappiest of computers [with upgraded Flash, mind you]. It's called Abobo's Big Adventure [you wouldn't believe how many times I've to spell check "Adobo"]. Abobo's Big Adventure is an indie game featuring one of Double Dragon's most hated villains. He's on a quest for blood and revenge. Why? Not sure, I think Abobo's son was kidnapped and ... umm -- revenging. Hey, if you want the history as to how and why this amazing game exists, by all means check it out.

What is most important is that the game has actually been in development since 2002 and we get to play it. Let me say that again, we get to play a game that's been in development for almost ten years for f**kin' free.

The game functions as an homage to the NES system and those of you who were familiar with side-scrolling shooters, beat'em-ups and dungeon crawlers will immediately "get it." However, there is enough well crafted humor and game design here, that I think this is a manditory play for anyone reading these words.

Now you can download the full game and play it on your PC, but I believe you may need a Newgrounds account. If you don't have one, it's cool, just go to the NG site and play it directly from your browser. If you had as many issues as I did trying to wrap your head around the controls, the game works with game pads if you install a program.

Still not convinced? Check out the trailer below and be amazed at the power of indie games.

After your escapist moment of joy and punchery, remember to donate to these guys so they can continue to bring us games that remind us that life ain't so bad. Tell'm Isaiah sent ya.
